French Toast

I love french toasts!! These bread slices soaked in egg and milk mixture then fried are ideal for breakfast. And it's super duper easy! Serve them with maple syrup, jam, butter, sprinkle icing sugar on the top, or serve as it is. I do not cut the edges of bread because I love how it gets crispy after frying. You can cut 'em, if you want!

Anyway, here is the recipe.

Ingredients:

Medium bread slices 5-6
Egg 1
Milk 1 cup
Sugar 3 tbsp
Vanilla essence ½ tsp
Cinnamon powder a pinch (optional)
Oil 3-4 tbsp for frying

Method:
  1. Simmer milk with sugar and cinnamon powder for just 4-5 minutes. Let it cool at room temperature.
  2. Add egg, and vanilla essence, whisk until combined well.
  3. Heat oil in a nonstick frying pan.
  4. Dip the bread slices in the mixture. Take them out immediately, don't let it soak for too long or the bread will break. Fry them on medium-low flame until golden brown in color.
  5. Serve hot!

Grilled Cheese Sandwich

My friends have been asking me for some quick & easy recipes. This Grilled Cheese Sandwich is VERY easy for working men/women or those who live alone. A perfect recipe for a quick breakfast OR sehri,  midnight snack, serve it with evening tea or hi-tea parties, and whatnot?

You can also do SO many variations with this recipe. Like,  add sliced mushrooms on the cheese, or leftover shredded chicken, or freshly cut tomatoes, pepperoni, fried omelette, and the list goes on. Do share if you come up with some new variation.

All you need is just few basic ingredients for this recipe:

Bread slices 2
Shredded mozzarella/cheddar cheese 2-3 tbsp heaped, OR Cheese slice 1
Salt a pinch
Black pepper a pinch
Butter (optional)

Method:
  1. Preheat grill pan or tawa.
  2. Generously spread butter on one side of the bread slices.
  3. Put shredded cheese or cheese slice on the bread slice.
  4. Sprinkle salt & black pepper, place another slice on it.
  5. Grill each side of the sandwich for 3 minutes until golden browned; continue grilling until cheese is melted.
  6. Make as many as you want! :D

Pancakes

I'm so sorry for not perfect shape of the pancakes. But these were made in a hurry and came out with different shape, although, they were still yummy.

Ingredients:

All Purpose Flour 1 cup
Sugar 2 tbsp
Baking Powder2 tsp
Salt 1/4 tsp
1 egg
Butter milk 1 cup (link)

Oil 2 tbsp

Method:

  1. In a small bowl, combine the all purpose flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Combine the egg, milk and oil; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.
  2. Pour batter by 1/4 cupful onto a greased hot griddle.
  3. Turn when bubbles form on top of pancakes; cook until the second side is golden brown.
  4. When using buttermilk the mixture would be a bit thicker, however the pancakes come out really light and fluffy.

Yields: 8 pancakes.
